This abstract piece became a sunset by its own desire. I was blocking out the colours for an abstract piece, when I saw is as clear as day. I proceeded as if I were making an abstract, but with the visual of a sunset in the back of my foggy mind.

I wanted texture, roughness, contrast and visual intrigue. I was rough in my layering but with careful intention, blending out areas whilst leaving others rough, creating texture by running my oil pastels over the piece like scribbles.

Creating this piece felt childlike, and so freeing. It was such a delight.
